How to write a Malt profile title and description
The title and description are the two parts that matter most, for search as well as for convincing clients. Here's a simple method for each.
The title: 50 characters to get found
Your title shows under your name in search results. It should say at a glance what you do, with the words your clients type.
- Your job first: "Developer", "UX/UI Designer", "SEO Consultant".
- Then 1 or 2 details: a technology, an industry, a type of project.
- Use the space: 35 to 50 characters.
- Avoid slogans: nobody searches for "passionate" or "at your service".
The description: convince and repeat your keywords
The description is read by the client who clicked, and by the algorithm. Aim for at least 1,000 characters, up to 2,000, with a clear structure:
- The hook: what you do, for whom, in one or two sentences.
- Your services: what you concretely offer, with your keywords.
- Your proof: numbers, clients, projects, results.
- How you work: your process, and an invitation to contact you.
The generic sentence test
Reread each sentence and ask yourself whether it could describe any freelancer. If so, replace it with a concrete example from your projects.
Using AI without losing your voice
A generator saves you time on the blank page, but text copied as is shows quickly. The right way:
- generate several titles and keep the one that best uses your keywords;
- use the generated description as a structure, then replace the generic parts with your real projects;
- keep your tone: formal or casual, short or detailed sentences, depending on your audience.
Check the result
Once your text is in place, check that your main keywords come back often enough with the SEO analysis, and that your title and description have the right length with the checklist.
