Why SEO on Malt
On Malt, your keywords decide whether you get found
When a client looks for a "React developer" or a "motion designer", Malt shows the profiles whose words best match their search. It's search engine optimization, just like on Google. A keyword missing from your profile is a search you don't show up in.
The match counts
The more the search words appear in your profile, the higher you rank.
So does repetition
A keyword present in your title, skills, description and experience weighs more than one mentioned once.
And you can't see it
Without a tool, there's no way to know how many times each keyword appears on your profile.

The criteria
The 4 criteria of the SEO analysis
Your main keywords
At least 3 keywords repeated 10 times or more across your profile. That's what clearly tells Malt what to rank you on.
Keyword variety
At least 10 keywords repeated 5 times or more, to show up in several related searches.
Your skills
At least 3 words appearing 5 times in your skills, for example "SEO", "SEO writing", "SEO audit".
Your description
At least 3 keywords repeated 5 times in your description, naturally.
How to find and place the right keywords on Malt
SEO on Malt follows the same logic as on Google: the search engine shows the profiles whose words best match the client's search. Here's the method to pick your keywords and place them in the right spots.
1. Start from your clients' words
The most common mistake: describing your work with your own vocabulary. Clients don't search for "creator of digital experiences", they type "UX designer" or "web designer".
To find the right words:
- type your job in Malt's search and look at the titles of the profiles ranking first;
- type a keyword in the skills field of your profile and note the variants Malt suggests;
- reuse the words your clients use in their briefs and messages.
2. Pick 3 main keywords
No need to target 20 searches at once. Pick 3 main keywords describing what you want to sell, plus a few close variants.
3. Place them everywhere Malt looks
A keyword mentioned once weighs little. It should come back in every part of the profile:
- The title: your most important keyword, right at the start.
- Skills: the keyword and its variants ("SEO", "SEO writing", "SEO audit").
- The description: several times, in natural sentences.
- Experience: in the description and skills of each project.
A simple benchmark
OptiMalt aims for at least 3 keywords repeated 10 times or more across your whole profile. It's a benchmark based on profiles that rank well, not an official Malt rule.
4. Stay readable
Repeating keywords doesn't mean stacking them. Clients read your profile: every sentence must stay clear and useful. A good trick is to talk about your real projects, which naturally brings back the words of your job.
5. Measure, then adjust
Without a tool, there's no way to know how many times each word appears. OptiMalt's SEO analysis counts your keywords, highlights them on your page and tells you which ones to strengthen. Run it again after each change to track your progress.
